As the 2024–2025 Lions Service Year draws to a close, the spirit of unity, visibility, and service was magnificently displayed with the commissioning of the newly constructed Lions Directional Garden—a landmark landscaping and beautification project at the strategic junction of Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way and Ola Ayinde Street (beside Customs FOU), Lagos.
Held on Saturday, June 28th, 2025, at 2:00 PM, the ceremony attracted key Lions leadership, members of the public, and well-wishers despite the rain, which symbolically blessed this new legacy site.
This legacy project stands as a bold visual statement of the Lions Clubs’ presence and commitment to the community, branding Lionism to the public at one of Lagos State’s busiest intersections.
A Legacy of Collaboration
The Directional Garden was executed by a strong coalition of clubs within District 404B2 during the 2024–2025 Lions Service Year (LSY), proving that collaboration remains the key to large-scale community impact.
This initiative was executed by:
Ikeja Lions Club (Lead Convener)
Ikeja New Era Lions Club
Lagos Esteem Lions Club
Lagos Exquisite Lions Club
Lagos Hallmark Lions Club
Lagos Metro Lions Club
Lagos United Lions Club
These clubs, known for their history of partnership, have once again raised the bar for inter-club cooperation sharing resources, ideas, and passion for service.
Importance of the Landmark Project
This newly constructed Lions Directional Garden is more than just a beautification effort, it’s a strategic service and visibility initiative delivering the following impact:
* Enhances the visual appeal of a major urban space
* Transforms underutilized land into a symbol of hope and community care
* Elevates the Lions Club brand visibility, showcasing our global movement at a glance
* Inspires the public and raises awareness of our mission of service and impact
With prominent Lions signage and landscaping, this site will continue to tell the Lions story to thousands of commuters and residents daily, a loud testimony to our mission: “We Serve.”
Speaking at the event, President of Ikeja Lions Club and Lead Convener, Lion Dr. Kelechi Onyedi, stated: “Visibility is not vanity; it is vitality for service organizations like ours. This project is a reminder that for people to support our work, they must first see it, feel it, and understand it. The Lions Directional Garden is both a gift to the environment and a branding landmark for Lionism.”
He specially appreciated the District Governor, Lion Tolulope Ayodeji Senbanjo PMJF NLCF, the District Governor-Elect, members of the District Cabinet, and all the distinguished Lions who came out to commission this effort.
Most importantly, he expressed immense pride in the collaborating clubs for demonstrating the power of unity during this Lions Service Year, urging others to adopt this model of collective impact.
In his address, the District Governor, Lion Tolulope Ayodeji Senbanjo PMJF NLCF, remarked: “Projects like this remind us why we serve. Not only does the Lions Directional Garden improve the cityscape, it makes a bold statement: Lions are here, Lions care, and Lions act. This collaboration is a model we must continue to encourage unity in service, bold visibility, and impactful legacies. I congratulate every club involved and the entire district. What a fitting and meaningful way to conclude the 2024–2025 service year. Lions District 404B2 is truly living out the call to serve a world in need.”
