In furtherance of its unwavering commitment to humanitarian service and in alignment with Lions Clubs International’s Global Service Focus on the Environment, the Lagos Pacific Lions Club carried out a successful community impact project titled “Tree Planting, Environmental Sustainability & Educational Materials Donation” on Thursday, July 17, 2025. The event, which marked the club’s second activity for the 2025/2026 Lions Service Year, took place at Adeife Shodipo Adeeko Memorial School in Bariga, Lagos.
The day’s program commenced at exactly 9:30 AM with a warm reception from the School Manager, Mrs. Florence Olutayo, and the Assistant School Manager, Mr. Oloyede Sikirulahi. Club members and school officials began with a joint inspection of the school premises to evaluate environmental and infrastructural needs.
Key Highlights of the Project Included:
- Tree Planting and Environmental Beautification:
Tree seedlings were planted at strategic locations within the school premises. Both Lions Club members and school representatives took part in the exercise, which not only enhanced the aesthetics of the environment but also promoted environmental consciousness among pupils.
- Donation of Educational Materials:
The club presented a wide range of learning tools, including exercise books, pencils, biros, markers, erasers, sharpeners, crayons, cardboards, tree seedlings, and watering cans—aimed at enriching the academic experience of the students.
- Uniform Support Initiative:
During the visit, it was observed that several pupils were in torn or worn-out uniforms. In response, the club provided new uniforms to the affected students. The joy and gratitude expressed by the children were heartwarming and deeply aligned with the club’s mission of service.
Immediate and Long-Term Impact of the activities include a greener and more attractive school environment, improved self-esteem and morale among pupils through the uniform support, increased environmental awareness and education among young learners and strengthened visibility and goodwill for the Lagos Pacific Lions Club in the host community. The project was widely regarded as a tremendous success. Beyond the planting of trees, the Lagos Pacific Lions Club sowed seeds of hope, education, and environmental consciousness. The initiative underscored the club’s passion for sustainable development and social upliftment.
