The spirit of service came alive when the Eko Royal Lions Club, District 404B2 Nigeria, visited the Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted Children, Surulere, Lagos, where they shared breakfast with pupils and staff, and donated essential cleaning items to the institution. The humanitarian gesture, carried out recently, was a demonstration of the club’s firm commitment to the ideals of Lionism – selfless service, inclusivity, and empowerment. Members of the club sat with the children and staff to enjoy a communal breakfast, creating an atmosphere of warmth, joy, and togetherness.
In her address, the Club President, Lion Shakirat Arowosaye, NLCF, encouraged the pupils never to look down on themselves but to boldly embrace opportunities that come their way. She emphasized that disability does not mean inability, urging the children to build confidence in their unique abilities and potential.
Beyond the breakfast fellowship, the club also presented cleaning materials, including waste baskets, broomsticks, and packers, to support hygiene and sanitation within the school.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, one of the teachers at Pacelli School expressed deep gratitude, noting that the gesture came at a time of great need. “Eko Royal Lions have given our children not just food and gifts, but also hope. Their words of encouragement and kind presence have uplifted both our pupils and staff,” she said.
The project was not only a touching experience for the children but also a reaffirmation of the Lions Club’s relevance in addressing social challenges. The initiative underscored the importance of community support in creating a more inclusive society for children living with disabilities.
Eko Royal Lions Club has, since its charter, remained steadfast in its mission to serve, and this outreach at Pacelli School is another testament to the impact Lions Clubs continue to make across Nigeria and beyond. Their service activities touch lives in practical ways, fighting hunger, empowering the less privileged, and enriching communities.
Indeed, through this project, the club has demonstrated that when service is done collectively and with compassion, the ripple effect goes far beyond the moment, it leaves a lasting mark on lives and inspires others to join the cause of service.
