In commemoration of World Teachers’ Day 2025, the Eko Royal Lions Club, District 404B2 Nigeria, in partnership with the Balogun Adeshina Rasaq Foundation, celebrated the unsung heroes nurturing children with special needs, the educators of Wesley School 1 & 2 for the Hearing Impaired and Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted Children in Lagos.
The event, themed “Empowering Educators, Enriching Lives”, was held in an atmosphere of joy, gratitude, and heartfelt appreciation. It brought together over 60 teachers and caregivers who dedicate their lives to supporting children with hearing and visual impairments.
The program featured a range of engaging and heartwarming activities, including interactive games, presentation of thoughtful appreciation gifts, sharing of refreshments, and lively musical performances. The highlight of the day was the expression of gratitude and emotion from teachers, many of whom described the gesture as deeply touching and inspiring.
Speaking during the event, Lion (Alhaja) Shakirat Arowosaye NLCF , President of Eko Royal Lions Club, emphasized the significance of recognizing teachers, especially those working with children with special needs. “Teaching is a noble calling, but teaching children with special needs requires extra patience, skill, and heart. These educators are true heroes who shape lives silently every day,” she said. “As Lions, we are committed to promoting inclusion and supporting those who dedicate themselves to uplifting others”. Lion Anita Rasak PMJF, NLCF, a Zone Chairperson and a member of the club in her words said “This celebration is not just about teachers, it’s about inclusion, empathy, and our shared responsibility to make life better for everyone,”.
A representative of the teachers from Pacelli School for the Blind expressed profound gratitude to the Lions for their thoughtful gesture: “We often work behind the scenes and rarely receive recognition. Today’s visit by the Eko Royal Lions Club reminds us that our efforts are seen, valued, and appreciated. This will remain a memorable day for us all.”
Another educator from Wesley School for the Hearing Impaired empathized her appreciation noting that this gestures from the Lions Club rekindle motivation and affirm their purpose in serving children who need extra love and care.
