Lagos Elite Lions Club once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to youth development and community service through two impactful initiatives aimed at empowering young people and strengthening the foundation for a better future.
Under the theme “Empower a Youth for a Better Future,” the club organized a youth empowerment activity through sports, featuring a female 5-a-side football playoff between Zion Football Academy and Alampasu Football Academy. The exciting encounter, which drew the attention of sports enthusiasts and community members alike, ended in a 3–1 victory in favor of Zion Football Academy.
Beyond the final scoreline, the football playoff served a deeper purpose. The event promoted discipline, teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship among young girls, while encouraging them to believe in their abilities and pursue their dreams with confidence. By using sports as a tool for empowerment, Lagos Elite Lions Club highlighted the role of athletics in character building, personal growth, and positive social engagement.
In a similar demonstration of service, the club also carried out its Back to School, Back to Hope program on 26th September 2025 at Arowosegbe Nursery & Primary School, Alapere Ward, Kosofe Local Government Area. The initiative was designed to support pupils resuming the new academic year by easing the financial burden on parents and promoting access to quality education.
The outreach recorded impressive participation, with 45 dedicated volunteers actively engaged in the exercise. Through their collective efforts, 657 students received a total of 3,500 exercise books, 200 pupils were provided with school bags, another 200 students received mathematical sets, while 100 pupils benefited from financial support to purchase new school uniforms.
In all, the program directly impacted over 650 children and their families, significantly boosting morale among pupils and enhancing their readiness for learning. By equipping students with essential educational materials and uniforms, Lagos Elite Lions Club contributed meaningfully to literacy development and reduced the economic strain on households within the Kosofe community.
Speaking on behalf of the club, the President, Lion Lucy Unegbu PMJF, NLCF, noted that the twin initiatives reflected the club’s passion for shaping future leaders. She emphasized that empowering youths whether through sports or education remains a sustainable way of building stronger communities and creating opportunities for long-term success.
She further commended the volunteers and partners whose selfless service ensured the success of the programs, reiterating that Lagos Elite Lions Club would continue to champion initiatives that uplift children and youths, especially the less privileged.
