Ikeja Viva L’amour Lions Club carried out a successful Hunger Relief Activity on Thursday, 15th January 2026, at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Ilasamaja, in Mushin Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The programme commenced at 10:45 a.m. and was formally called to order by the Club President, Lion RTD. Col. Mabel Toyobo, MJF, NLCF. In her opening address, the Activity Chairperson, Lion Yeye Oba Folashade Ashafa, PMJF, NLCF, emphasized that hunger relief lies at the core of Lions Clubs International’s global service focus. She expressed heartfelt appreciation to all members, partners, and supporters whose contributions ensured the success of the outreach.

This was followed by goodwill messages from key stakeholders, including the Club President, the Church Vicar, and a representative of the beneficiaries. In her remarks, President Lion RTD. Col. Mabel Toyobo described the outreach as a step in the right direction and reaffirmed the Club’s commitment to humanitarian service. She thanked the people of Mushin for welcoming the Club and urged them to accept the food items as a token of love and compassion from the Lions family.

The Vicar of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Ven. Mathew Arowosegbe, expressed deep appreciation to Ikeja Viva L’amour Lions Club for traveling from Ikeja to serve the Mushin community. He commended the Club for the life-changing initiative and prayed for continued strength and impact in their service to humanity. Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, their representative conveyed profound gratitude to the Club, noting that the support brought encouragement and renewed hope amid prevailing economic challenges. The appreciation of the beneficiaries was evident through their smiles, applause, and expressions of joy.

The highlight of the event was the donation and presentation ceremony, during which 130 bags of 5kg rice were distributed to 130 beneficiaries drawn from Holy Trinity Anglican Church and its surrounding communities in Mushin Local Government Area.

At the conclusion of the programme, the Vicar once again thanked the Club for its generosity and show of love to the church and the wider community. The closing remarks and vote of thanks were delivered by Lion Barr. Dame Judith Yewande Akapo, PMJF, NLCF, who appreciated all participants and reaffirmed the Club’s dedication to alleviating hunger and improving lives through selfless service.

The hunger relief outreach stood as another testament to the Lions’ enduring motto: We Serve.
