In a heartwarming display of selfless service and impactful community development, Ikeja New Era Lions Club has once again demonstrated the true essence of humanitarianism by organizing a legacy project centered on healthcare intervention for the people of Oke Aro and its environs. On the 14th of March, 2025, the club carried out the renovation and comprehensive upgrade of the Oke Aro Health Centre, breathing new life into a facility that serves hundreds of residents in need of quality healthcare services.

The project included:

  • Full-scale painting of the facility, giving the health center a fresh, welcoming look.
  • Provision of a baby scale, a much-needed tool to support maternal and child health.
  • Replacement of all bed sheets in the wards to ensure cleanliness and comfort for patients.
  • Installation of new curtains, adding privacy and aesthetic improvement to the center.

The visibly excited Club President, Lion Yinka NLCF, while speaking on behalf of the club, expressed deep joy at the successful execution of the project. According to him:

“It brings us great satisfaction to see that our efforts are contributing meaningfully to the well-being of our community. The Oke Aro Health Centre plays a vital role in grassroots healthcare delivery, and this legacy project is our way of showing that the Lions are always here to serve with love and compassion. We are grateful to every member of our club who made this possible and to our leaders for their continued guidance and support.”

The project was officially commissioned by the District Governor, Lion Tolulope Senbanjo PMJF NLCF, who commended the club for its vision and commitment to impactful service.
In his remarks, he assured the health center of the Lions Club’s continued support, stating:

“What Ikeja New Era Lions Club has done today is a testament to our unwavering commitment to community development and quality healthcare. The Lions will not relent in uplifting institutions like this, as we remain a strong force of positive change. This is just the beginning, we will keep working hand in hand with our communities to help improve efficiency, promote well-being, and deliver hope where it is needed most.”

Also present at the occasion was the District Governor Elect, Lion Kemi Eribake, whose visionary leadership has positioned Ikeja New Era Lions Club as one of the most vibrant and recognized clubs in District 404B2. She highlighted the Lions’ unique capacity to meet urgent community needs, echoing one of the organization’s core mantras:

“Where there is a need, there is a Lion. And true to these words, Ikeja New Era has risen to meet a crucial need today. This is how we build a legacy of service, not just by identifying problems, but by stepping up with tangible solutions that change lives.”

Officials of the Oke Aro Health Centre, overwhelmed with gratitude, expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Lions Club. They described the club as true friends of the community, stating that the donations will be well utilized and properly maintained.

“This renovation has brought light and encouragement to both staff and patients alike. With this support, we are better positioned to serve the public with dignity, care, and excellence,” a representative of the health center noted.

This impactful initiative by the Ikeja New Era Lions Club is yet another glowing example of how Lions around the world are changing lives, one act of service at a time.
