“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” – Mahatma Gandhi
Once again, the Lions Clubs International family has proven that through acts of love and service, the world truly becomes a better place. On Thursday, June 13, 2025, Ilupeju Diamond Lions Club, in proud collaboration with Rola International School, commissioned a standard library and renovated the sickbay at Our Lady of Fatima Nursery and Primary School, Mushin, Lagos.
This heartwarming legacy project, which marks one of the final acts of service for the club in the 2024–2025 Lions Service Year, stands as a symbol of compassion, commitment, and community upliftment. The commissioning of the library and sickbay is more than just a project, it is a vital investment in the future of the pupils and a major support for the school’s administration. The newly equipped library will enhance learning, improve literacy, and provide the pupils with access to a world of knowledge beyond the classroom. The renovated sickbay ensures that students have a safe and hygienic space for medical attention, reinforcing their overall well-being.
Speaking during the commissioning, Mrs. Isabella Ojobaro, Headmistress of Our Lady of Fatima Nursery and Primary School, expressed heartfelt appreciation: “This intervention by the Lions Club has exceeded our expectations. The standard of our school will certainly improve with this facility. The pupils are excited, the teachers are encouraged, and we now have a learning environment we can all be proud of. We are deeply grateful.”
Lion Grace Sanya, President of Ilupeju Diamond Lions Club, explained that the club’s deep love for children and passion for their welfare was the inspiration behind this legacy project: “Children are the foundation of any society. At Ilupeju Diamond Lions Club, we are committed to supporting their growth, education, and wellbeing. This project is our heartfelt contribution to their journey, and we’re proud to leave a lasting mark of love and service.”
Also present at the event was District Governor of Lions District 404B2, Lion Tolulope Ayodeji Senbanjo, who applauded the club’s initiative as a clear reflection of the Lions’ global vision of impact and selfless service: “This is what it means to be a Lion, finding a need and meeting it with love and dignity. Ilupeju Diamond Lions Club has responded to the International President’s call to ‘Make a Mark’, and what we see here today is a remarkable demonstration of service leadership. You have made your mark, and the world is better for it.”
With yet another successful service project completed, Ilupeju Diamond Lions Club continues to embody the Lions’ motto: “We Serve.”
Lions club International is really doing a great job in impacting our communities through various causes.
