In a heartwarming show of community service and commitment to child development, the Lagos Apex Lions Club, under Lions Clubs International District 404B2 Nigeria, officially commissioned a newly constructed playground at Orisigun Nursery and Primary School, Kuku Close, Ketu.
This significant gesture marks a Legacy Project by the club — a symbolic and sustainable investment into the lives of future generations. Legacy Projects are a core part of the Lions Clubs’ service model, aimed at creating visible, long-term impact in communities. Through such projects, Lions leave behind enduring structures that embody the service ideals of the organization.
The commissioning ceremony was graced by District Governor Lion Tolulope Senbanjo, PMJF, NLCF, alongside Club President Lion Olabode Ayanpeju Abiodun, NLCF, and several Lions members and community stakeholders. The event attracted enthusiastic participation from students and staff who expressed deep gratitude for the donation.
According to the Club President, the decision to build a playground was inspired by the need to promote physical, mental, and social well-being among children, especially in underserved public schools. “A playground is not just a space for fun—it’s a tool for learning, creativity, teamwork, and emotional growth. Every child deserves the right to play in a safe and inspiring environment,” she said.
The newly installed facility provides a safe, child-friendly, and accessible space where children can engage in active play. This development is expected to enhance motor skills, encourage social interaction, and reduce stress among pupils — critical elements that support holistic learning and development.
Lions Clubs are renowned for being agents of change. The execution of this project stands as yet another testament to the commitment of Lions in District 404B2 Nigeria to touch lives and create lasting impact. Through thoughtful initiatives like this, the Lions reaffirm their role as partners in progress — building stronger, healthier, and happier communities.
