In a remarkable demonstration of community service and collaboration, Ede Royal Lions Club partnered with Lagos Radiant Lions Club to carry out a transformative outreach program aimed at empowering market women and enhancing community well-being. The project, which took place on the 12th of July, 2025 at Ede in Osun State, focused on providing shelter support and sanitation materials to women in a bustling marketplace, reaffirming the Lions Clubs’ dedication to service and environmental sustainability. The initiative aligns with Lions Clubs International’s Global Causes, particularly its focus on environmental sanitation and support for underserved communities.
Market women, recognized as key players in local economic development, received essential sanitation supplies to help keep their working environment clean and disease-free, as well as shelter support to protect them from harsh weather conditions. The project was designed to uplift women’s dignity, strengthen their businesses, and create a healthier marketplace for all.
Speaking on behalf of the club, Lion President of Ede Royal Lions Club; Lion Ayoola Olatunji praised the event as a milestone in the new service year: “Our mission has always been to identify the needs of our communities and respond with sustainable solutions. By supporting these hardworking women with shelter and sanitation materials, we are helping them live and work with dignity while also improving community health,” he stated.
Lion Olufolake Adegoke President of Lagos Radiant Lions Club also emphasized the power of partnerships in creating lasting impact: “This project is proof that when Lions come together, lives are transformed. We are proud to stand with Ede Royal Lions Club to empower these market women, who are the backbone of our local economy.” Beneficiaries of the program also expressed heartfelt gratitude for the intervention, describing it as timely and life-changing. “We are so grateful to the Lions Clubs for coming to our aid,” one market woman shared with emotion. “Now we can work in a cleaner, safer environment and focus on growing our businesses.”
With its theme, “Empowering Women, Enhancing Communities,” this initiative underscores the Lions’ commitment to uplifting lives and promoting environmental consciousness. Ede Royal and Lagos Radiant Lions Clubs have once again shown that service, when driven by compassion and collaboration, can bring hope and progress to entire communities.
Similarly in a bold step towards youth empowerment and community development, Ede Royal Lions Club, in partnership with Leo Region 5 (Osun), successfully organized a Mega Skill Acquisition Program on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. The transformative event brought together Leos and young people from across Osun State, equipping them with valuable skills to thrive as the next generation of leaders. The initiative also aligns with Lions Clubs International’s Global Causes which place a strong emphasis on Youth Development by Empowering young people with skills, knowledge, and confidence. It also aids community growth by building a supportive environment that promotes entrepreneurship and self-reliance.
Participants engaged in hands-on training sessions designed to address two of the most pressing challenges facing young people:
Unemployment: Offering practical skills to improve employability and open new opportunities.
Entrepreneurship: Encouraging innovation, creativity, and self-sufficiency among aspiring entrepreneurs.
Speaking at the event, the leadership of Ede Royal Lions Club reaffirmed their commitment to service and youth empowerment. Lion Ayoola Olatunji stated that the club is committed to equipping our young people with the tools they need to succeed, not only as leaders of tomorrow but as active contributors to their communities today.
