Osun New Era Lions Club kicked off the new academic year with great enthusiasm through its “Back to School Program and Pediatric Cancer Awareness” Service Activity.
The event, which took place at Community Primary School, Olorunsogo Dada Estate, Osogbo on Monday, September 29, 2025, brought smiles to the faces of pupils and teachers alike. Members of the Club warmly welcomed the students with words of encouragement and distributed exercise books, socks, and essential writing materials. The gesture was aimed at easing the financial burden on parents while inspiring confidence, motivation, and enthusiasm among the pupils as they returned to school.
The project was part of the Club’s ongoing commitment to promoting education and child welfare which is a key focus areas of Lions Clubs International. By providing learning materials, the Osun New Era Lions Club sought to support underprivileged children and ensure that no child is left behind due to lack of basic school supplies.
The Head Teacher and Proprietress of the school expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the staff and students, commending the Lions for their continuous community support and humanitarian spirit.
In addition to the material donations, the Club also held an engaging membership awareness session to introduce teachers and community members to the ideals of Lionism, highlighting the global impact of Lions Clubs International in humanitarian service.
A major highlight of the event was the presence of 1st Vice District President, Lion Sunday Akere, PMJF, NLCF, who commended the Club for its proactive approach in addressing the educational and social needs of the community. In his remarks, he applauded the members for their dedication to service and encouraged them to continue demonstrating the true spirit of Lionism which is selfless service to humanity.
The pupils’ joyful expressions and excitement served as a powerful reminder of why Lions serve. It was indeed a heartwarming and impactful experience that reinforced the District Governor’s slogan “Real Service, Committed to Serve.”
