Lion Oluomo Sunday Akere MJF, NLCF
Lion Oluomo Sunday Akere PMJF NLCF is a native of Igbajo in Boluwaduro Local government of Osun State. Born over six decades ago, Lion Akere attended Baptist Day Primary School and Kiriji Memorial College both in Igbajo before proceeding to the University of Ibadan where he graduated with B.Sc (Hons) degree Food Technology in 1987. He did his mandatory one year national service (NYSC) with Yerwa Consolidated Industries Ltd. Bauchi, Bauchi State.
His working career saw him through Ministry of Agric. & Natural Resources (MANR), Ibadan, Niger Valley Farms, Agenebode, Edo State, Fan Milk Nig. Ltd., Ibadan, Nigeria Bottling Company, Sango Otta, Ogun State, Yerwa Consolidated Ind. Ltd.,Bauchi and Maydej Nig. Ltd, Tede, Oyo State where he worked as the Production Manager before resigning to start his own business.
He has also undergone several training/short courses in Nigeria, Ghana, Dubai (UAE), holds a M.Sc. in Public Admin. from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) and is currently studying for LLB Law at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). Oluomo Akere is the CEO/MD of Akin Akere Nig. Enterprises, Vista Sun International Investment Ltd, Kiriji Suites & Hotel Ltd all venturing into Property, Hospitality, Farming and General contracts.
Oluomo Sunday Akere is a devout Christian, humanitarian, politician and lover of community development a flair that drove him into joining Lions International over eleven years ago. As a member of Osun New Era Lions Club in District 404B2 Nigeria, Lion Akere has been a past President, past Zone Chairperson, past Region Chairperson, Chairperson of several District committees, two times District Convention Chairperson, Co -Chairperson of the District Leo program amongst others before being elected as the 2nd Vice District Governor for Lions International District 404B2 Nigeria. His dedication to serving humanity and unwavering commitment to wiping away the tears of others have fetched him several awards and laurels too numerous to count.
As a politician he has served in notable capacities both at the local, state and federal levels. He was the Director of Research & Strategy for Alliance for Democracy (AD), Osun State for eight years from where he rose to become the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Osun State in 2011. He chaired the State Congress Committee of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State in 2014, member of APC Presidential Campaign team in 2015 & 2019, member Presidential Transition/Inauguration Team 2015 & 2019, member Governing Board, Nigeria Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research (NIOMR) 2017 – 2022, Special Adviser Political Matters to the Executive Governor Osun State 2021 – 2022, Secretary, Presidential Campaign Council, Osun State 2023 and presently Member, Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State.
Lion Oluomo Sunday Akere has attended several International Conventions and African Forums part of which are Honolulu, Hawaii (USA) 2015, Chicago (USA) 2017, Las Vegas (USA) 2018, Milan, Italy 2019 and Boston, Massachusetts (USA) 2023, Lome, Togo 2019, Lusaka, Zambia 2019, Tunis, Tunisia 2022 and Accra, Ghana 2023.
Lion Oluomo Sunday Akere is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow (PMJF) and holds the traditional title of Akinrogun of Eesun-Ijesa and Oluomo of Igbajo land. He is happily married to Lion Yeye Oyeyemi Akere and the marriage is blessed.
