Lion Prof. Emmanuel Dayo Fagbohun was born at Aiyede Ekiti, Ekiti State, Nigeria on November 19, 1953. He had his basic education in Aiyede- Ekiti and passed the WASC examination from Aiyede Grammar School in 1970. He proceeded to the prestigious University of Ife, Ile-Ife (Now OAU) where he obtained B.Sc. (Microbiology) in 1978.
In pursuit of further academic knowledge, Dayo Fagbohun returned to the University of Ife, Ile-Ife where he bagged M.Sc. (Microbiology) in 1987. Dayo Fagbohun worked at the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti from 1980 to 1990. In 1991, Dayo Fagbohun joined Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti. In 2012, he obtained his Doctorate Degree (PhD) and in the course of his academic pursuit, he was elevated to become a Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Ekiti State University where he works till date. He would be due for retirement on 19th November, 2023.
Lion Prof. Fagbohun has over eighty scientific publications in both Local and International Journals and has co-authored two University textbooks so far.
Lion Prof. Dayo Fagbohun is an LOC Member of Biotechnology Society of Nigeria, 2004 Conference; He is the Departmental Postgraduate Chairman from 2014 to date. Lion Prof. Dayo Fagbohun is the Departmental Project Coordinator (400 Level Students) from 2014 to date, He is also the Departmental Seminar Coordinator (400 Level Students) from 2014 to date. He became the External Examiner to the Department of Microbiology, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife from 2013 to date. He is the treasurer, YMCA St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Aiyede Ekiti from 2011 to date. He was installed as the Grand Patron, Fountain Youth Football Club, Ado-Ekiti. He was the Senate Representative on Junior Staff Appointment and Promotion Committee from 2019 to 2021. He has also attended several International and National Symposia.
HIS JOURNEY IN LIONS INTERNATIONAL
Lion Prof. Emmanuel Dayo Fagbohun joined Ado Ekiti Lions Club as a charter member under District 404 Nigeria in 1988/1999. He later joined Ado Ekiti Central Lions Club in 2006/2007 Lions Service Year. He became the Second Vice President in 2008/2009, he was elected to the position of the First Vice President in 2009/2010 and in 2010/2011, he became the Club President of Ado Ekiti Central Lions Club.
He was appointed as the Zone 10B Chairperson in 2011/2012, District 404B2 Nigeria and later served as the Region 8 Chairperson, District 404B2 Nigeria in 2014/2015. Afterwards, he served in so many capacities at District and Multiple District Levels. In 2021/2022 Lions Year, he was elected into the position of the Second Vice District Governor, and in 2022/2023 he got 100 percent YES Vote to become the First Vice District Governor and on July 1st, 2023, he became the District Governor of District 404B2 Nigeria. He successfully completed his tenure as DG in June 2024 and now serves as Immediate Past District Governor amongst other roles.
Lion Prof. Dayo Fagbohun is a graduate of ALLI (Advanced Lions Leadership Institute), also a graduate of FDI (Faculty Development Institute) and had also attended several Leadership trainings both at Local and International Levels.
Lion Prof. Emmanuel Dayo Fagbohun is a recipient Melvin Jones Fellowship (MJF) and Progressive Melvin Jones Fellowship (PMJF) Award and other several awards both local and International.
